The name
: the word refers to the art of Moroccan ceramics inspired
by Persian mosaics. The ceramists there cut and carve out
slabs of dried clay that are then enamelled in multiple colours.
These parts then make up sumptuous mosaic panels.
The picture
: a detail from an octogonal pattern on a wall facing.
Marrakech, Morocco, date unknown.
The perfume
: an oriental fragrance, rich incontrast like the contrast
between the thirst-quenching coolness of the oasis and the
heat of the Moroccan desert, it first gives off lively and
sparkling notes of tangerine, orange and lemon ; then fragrances
of flowers, wood and vibrant spices evoke the entrancing,
mysterious atmosphere of the Medina, and merge into a balsamic
amber tonality.
